João Boto is a Portuguese lawyer who graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados) since 1986, bringing nearly four decades of experience to his practice.
Based in central Lisbon, he advises Portuguese and international clients on a broad range of legal matters, with particular focus on corporate governance, investment structuring, real estate, tax, employment and family law. His work combines deep knowledge of Portuguese legislation with practical experience in both advisory and contentious matters.
João Boto's practice is built on a direct, personal relationship with each client. He provides clear, strategic advice grounded in thorough legal analysis, and represents clients before all Portuguese courts — from the courts of first instance through the Courts of Appeal (Tribunais da Relação) to the Supreme Court of Justice (Supremo Tribunal de Justiça).
His approach prioritises understanding the client's commercial objectives alongside the legal issues, ensuring that advice is not only technically sound but also practically useful.
João Boto works in Portuguese, English and French, enabling effective communication with international clients and cross-border coordination.
